Period 3:
And were back for the third period, which will possibly decide who
is the NJCAA Champion.
Thirty seconds in and the puck is frozen by the MSUB goalie.
Two minutes in and MCC ices the puck, the Jack's quickly take control
and just barely miss the top corner of the net. MCC ices the puck again
to get a fresh line out on the ice.
MCC hasen't been able to get control of the puck this period and they
just took a penalty at 1659, by numbner 26 for interference .
MSUB is trying to take advantage of their powerplay but the MCC penalty
kill is fairly strong. MCC breaks away, but the shot deflects off the
top post and leaves the ice.
MCC back at full strength with 1459 left in the third period, MSUB
ices the puck bringing the faceoff into their own defensive end.
Jack's tally two quick shots but are denied. MCC then takes the puck
and tallies two of their own.
MCC's number 4 takes a two minute tripping penalty at 1333, giving
the jacks one man up.
A scrap in front of the net and the net comes off in the Jack's offensive
zone, stopping play. The Jack's have gotten about five shots so far
in this powerplay but all have been stopped by MCC's goalie.
Both goalies are playing exceptionally good, keeping the game tied
of almost two periods at 1-1, MCC returns to full strength at 1133.
MCC's number 13 gets a huge chance in front of the net, but he shoots
it right into the goalie's chest.
Halfway through the final period and neither team has been able to
capitalize and break the tie that they have been in for almost thiry
minutes.
MSUB's #21 shoots just short of the open corner in the net it is instead
iced by the tribunes.
MSUB's number 5 takes a penalty for interference with 701 left in
the third period.
MSUB is still controlling the play, despite being a man down, getting
three shots, while MCC has only been able to tally one during the powerplay.
MSUB returns to full strength.
MSUB misses a huge shot. It looked like it was going to go in but
the MCC goalie grabbed it just before it crossed the line.
Jacks bring the puck back in and knock the net off, sending the faceoff
to neutral ice, however the tribunes quickly grab the puck and #27
gets a shot of but misses the jacks' net by about three feet.
330 left in regulation time and if neither team scores we could be
looking at a repeat of last night with the game going into overtime.
LUMBERJACK GOAL!! at 249 by number 94, assisted by 17 and 5, they
may have just won Bottineau the NJCAA championship.
two minutes twenty seconds left 2-1 to MSUB.
TIME OUT ON MCC 116 left in the 3rd period
with thirty seconds left MCC pulls the goalie to try to tie up the
game
BOTTINEAU WINS THE 2007 NJCAA CHAMPIONSHIP 2-1, FOR THE FIRST TIME
EVER HERE IN THE LUMBERDOME.
